Dr. Parekkadan serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School and is an affiliated faculty member of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute and the Broad Institute. His laboratory has expertise is in engineering cell and gene therapeutics for translation.  In complement to new therapeutic platforms, his group also applies engineering methods to create new assays for biomarker and drug discovery. He also has experience in technology transfer and translation in his service on several scientific advisory boards and as a co-founder of Sentien Biotechnologies, Inc., a maker of cell therapeutics. In acknowledgements for his efforts in scientific innovation and training, he was recognized by Harvard Medical School as Young Mentor of the Year and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor given by the US government for early career investigators.

He received a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University (2003) and a PhD in Chemical and Medical Engineering from MIT while completing all MD coursework at Harvard Medical School (2008).
